Some lesson FAQs

What should I bring to my dance class?

  • Indoor dance shoes.  These should be clean, non-marking shoes that are comfortable for dancing.

  • A water bottle.

  • Something to record video, in case the instructors let you record a recap video at the end of class.

Saskatoon Lindy Hop offers a variety of classes in partnered swing dancing. Do I need a partner to sign up for these classes?

  • No partner is required to attend these classes; students are encouraged to switch partners multiple times throughout the class.

Why do we rotate partners during dance classes?

  • It's valuable to learn to dance with a variety of people. Over time, dancing with different individuals can contribute to learning how to dance with all sorts of dance styles. Also, people learn at different rates. By rotating partners, not only could you assist in helping a fellow classmate learn the move, but they could help you! Pleas note, you do not have to rotate dance partners if you do not wish to do so.

I want to learn to dance, but I Am Different-Abled, is it still possible to participate?

  • Absolutely. Our class teachers are able to demonstrate moves in ways that are more accessible to different-abled people. If you have any concerns, please feel free to let them be known either before, during, or after the class and we'll be happy to help out in whatever way we can to make sure you enjoy the lessons and the dance.
